Grand Wagoneer vs Cadillac Escalade
2022 Grand Wagoneer vs. Cadillac Escalade
The 2022 Grand Wagoneer is due to arrive any day now, and it’s entering a market that is undoubtedly more crowded than the one its ancestors occupied 30 years ago. There is no shortage of third-row luxury SUVs to pick from these days, so the new Grand Wagoneer has some stiff competition. The Cadillac Escalade is definitely at the top of the competitor’s list. So how does the Grand Wagoneer match up against the Escalade? The team at Pinckney CDJR has rummaged through the spec sheets to find out.
2022 Grand Wagoneer Power
The 2022 Grand Wagoneer comes with an outstanding 6.4-liter Hemi V8 that profits from an air induction system to produce 471 horsepower. This Hemi is a durable iron block that relays power to the wheels through an outstanding 8-speed automatic transmission. Grand Wagoneers come equipped with the Quadra-Drive II system. This system comes with a two-range four-wheel-drive system that can identify wheel slippage rapidly and quickly sends power to the wheels with the best traction. The Quadra-Drive II system comes standard with an electronic limited-slip differential. The Selec-Terrain Management System offers legendary traction that allows you to tackle nearly any environment. The Grand Wagoneer offers an exceptional towing capacity of 10,000 pounds, letting you take virtually anything to your destination.
2021 Cadillac Escalade Power
The Cadillac Escalade has two available engines. The first and standard engine is the familiar 6.2-liter V8 engine with a direct-injected aluminum-block engine that produces 420 horsepower and a healthy 460 lb-ft of torque. New for 2021 is the 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-6 engine that produces 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque at a relaxed 1,500 rpm. This diesel requires diesel exhaust fluid. The Escalade has a towing capacity of 8,200 pounds which is respectable but falls short of the Grand Wagoneers 10,000 pounds. Whichever engine you choose, you’ll get a smooth 10-speed transmission. There is also an optional magnetic ride control and a four-corner air suspension. Combined with the newly standard independent rear suspension, this is the most refined and comfortable Escalade yet.
2022 Grand Wagoneer Features
The Grand Wagoneer offers premium Nappa leather seating, aluminum, wood, and even onyx glass accents, which come from recyclable materials. The standard seating on the Grand Wagoneer is with two captain’s chairs in the front and a bench seat in the second row and the third row. However, you can opt for center-row captain’s chairs instead of the second-row bench. All Grand Wagoneers have 24-way power front seats with massage, memory, and 4-way powered headrests. There is also a heated steering wheel, a memory steering column, and adjustable pedals. Technology is at the forefront with a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, a center 12.1-inch horizontal infotainment display in the center of the dash, and a 10.25-inch screen below that controls the air conditioning and seat heat.
2021 Cadillac Escalade Features
The Escalade’s independent rear suspension requires less space than the previous suspension, which allowed the engineers to lower both rows of rear seats and make the whole area in the back feel much roomier. All Escalade models have 3-zone climate control and power front seats with 12-way for lower trims and 16-way for the top trims, which is quite lacking compared to Grand Wagoneer’s 24-way seats. The 16-way seats even have a massage function. Center-row captain’s chairs are standard, but a center bench is an option if you need seating for eight. With the extra 10-inches of legroom, adults can now fit in the second row more comfortably. The Escalade has 25.5 behind the third row. When you fold the third row, there are 63 cubic feet of cargo room.
The winner is obviously the 2022 Grand Wagoneer; it offers more power and far more technology.
