What Makes the 2024 Wagoneer So Luxurious?
One of the most important things about a luxury SUV is the comfort and convenience features. These quite literally make a luxury SUV what it is: luxurious! That’s why the design team of the Wagoneer created a vehicle that announces its luxury with an eye-catching exterior. Outside, the Wagoneer rides on standard 18-inch fully-painted Satin Carbon alloy wheels. Speaking of wheels, the Wagoneer is available for a wide range of options throughout the lineup ranging from 20 to 22 inches with an array of spoke patterns and hues. Other exterior features include full LED lighting, power-adjustable side mirrors with heating, a power liftgate, and side mirror turn indicators. The exterior is just a hint at the luxury that lies within the 2024 Wagoneer. The spacious interior features an array of standard comfort features, with more added to each following trim level. The Wagoneer provides room for eight occupants with a 2+3+3 seating arrangement from front to back. Meanwhile, a 2+2+3 setup is optional with second-row captain’s chairs. The seating is leather-trimmed for a premium look and feel. Meanwhile, the front seats are heated, ventilated, and 12-way power-adjustable. The pedals and tilt/telescoping steering wheel are also power-adjustable. Technology takes center stage with the 2024 Wagoneer, featuring a 10.1-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, a 10.25-inch fully digital gauge cluster, a 10-speaker Alpine premium audio system, and a vast array of driver assistance technologies.
What Engine Powers the 2024 Wagoneer?
Of course, luxury SUVs have to have things like space, technology, and an array of comfort features. However, the power and efficiency it delivers should be held equally important. Engineers of the Wagoneer know this, which is why they created a powertrain with greater fuel efficiency and power to replace the larger, thirstier engine of years past. Raising the Wagoneer’s hood, you’ll uncover a twin-turbocharged 3.0L inline six-cylinder engine called Hurricane. The Hurricane engine was made available in 2023 for the Series II, Carbide, and Series III trim levels. However, in 2024, the Wagoneer completely does away with the previously standard 5.7L HEMI V8. By creating an engine with a smaller displacement and two turbochargers, the Wagoneer achieves similar power to the larger engine while reducing emissions. The new Hurricane engine delivers 420 horsepower and 468 lb-ft of torque, offering a best-in-class towing capacity of up to 10,000 pounds when properly equipped. The engine is paired with a robust TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission powering the rear wheels as standard equipment. However, here in Michigan, you’ll find most Wagoneers to be equipped with one of two available 4×4 systems, as they are better suited for all-weather traction.
4×4 Systems for the 2024 Wagoneer
Stories of the capability of Jeep’s vehicles have reverberated across the globe. Although the Wagoneer is technically not a Jeep but rather a luxury vehicle extension of the Jeep brand, that capability still shines brightly to honor its roots. In keeping with tradition, the Wagoneer offers two impressive 4×4 systems, the first of which is Quadra-Trac I. This is a full-time high-range four-wheel drive system with a torque split of 52% to the rear wheels and 48% to the front, delivering exceptional traction in all different weather and road conditions. While operating in four-wheel drive at all times, the system is capable of redistributing torque to the wheels with the most traction when other wheels lose traction. The second available 4×4 system is Quadra-Drive II. Instead of only having a high range in the transfer case, Quadra-Drive II swaps in a two-speed transfer case, allowing for both high- and low-range gearing. Further, the Quadra-Drive II also adds an electronic limited-slip rear differential, which is designed to anticipate low-traction situations with a network of sensors. When these situations are detected, the system is designed to automatically distribute up to 100% of available engine torque to the wheel with the most traction to limit or even eliminate tire slip. All Wagoneer models equipped with either 4×4 system come with Selec-Terrain traction management, which features Auto, Snow, Sport, Rock, and Sand/Mud drive modes. When selected, these modes automatically make adjustments to the transmission shift points, torque split, throttle control, and other vehicle systems to optimize performance and traction on the selected conditions.
