2021 Jeep Gladiator vs Ford Ranger
Getting the perfect mid-size truck, especially one that really is able to get you off-roading capabilities, can be trickier than you might expect. That’s why we want to be dedicated in discussing two of the top competitors on the market today. We are going to be looking at the 2021 Jeep Gladiator and the 2021 Ford Ranger. The Gladiator works hard to make a statement, especially with the introduction of the diesel V6 engine, more features throughout the trim lineup, full-time 4-wheel drive, and even two new special editions called 80th Anniversary and Willys. The Ranger tries hard to keep up the pace with a switching up of the exterior paint colors, only one single engine, a Black appearance package, and the Tremor Off-Road package. Keep reading to learn more about these midsize trucks.
2021 Jeep Gladiator Power & Handling
Thanks to the addition of the diesel engine, you will now be able to choose between two different engines with the 2021 Gladiator. The base engine is a 3.6-liter V6, which can get you around 260 pound-feet of torque and 285 horsepower. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, though an eight-speed automatic is optional here. The other engine is the previously mentioned 3.0-liter diesel V6, which can create around 442 pound-feet of torque and 260 horsepower. Here you get the 8-speed automatic transmission as standard. You’ll also get four-wheel drive throughout.
2021 Ford Ranger Power & Handling
The Ford Ranger only offers you one standard engine, and this standard engine is a regular gasoline powered configuration. The lack of a diesel option is pretty disappointing for a mid-size truck. The engine itself is a turbocharged 2.3-liter 4-cylinder, getting you around 310 pound-feet of torque and 270 horsepower. Rear-wheel drive is standard here, with available all-wheel drive. You’ll also find a ten-speed automatic transmission.
