2019 Jeep Cherokee vs 2019 Subaru Forester near Hamburg, MI

Two of the largest selling SUVs on the market are the Jeep Cherokee and the Subaru Forester. Both have superior engines and headroom, and both have unique looking interiors to help them stand apart from the pack. Jeep and Subaru have been battling it out forever to see who is truly the best. In this article, we will break down both the 2019 Jeep Cherokee and the 2019 Subaru Forester to see which one comes out on top!

2019 Jeep Cherokee Power & Handling

The 2019 Jeep Cherokee boasts a few engine options. The standard is a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder with 180 horsepower with the option of a 271-horsepower 3.2-liter V6 or the brand new 270-horsepower 2.0-liter with a turbocharged 4-cylinder with the latter coming with an impressive 295 lb-ft of torque. All engines come connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is available with all of these engines depending on which one you choose. The four-cylinder engines can tow 4,000 pounds while the V6 can tow an impressive 4,500 pounds.

2019 Subaru Forester Power & Handling

There is only one engine available for the 2019 Subaru Forester, and it’s a 2.5-liter flat-4 cylinder that produces 183 horsepower mated with the Suburu specific CVT automatic transmission. This transmission features a manual mode that simulates a 7-speed automatic transmission. The fuel economy for the Subaru Forester is a decent 26-mpg city/33-mpg highway/29-mpg combined. Towing capacity is limited to 1,500 pounds, and while the engine for the Forester is nice, it doesn’t compare to the powerful engines of the Jeep Cherokee.

2019 Jeep Cherokee Features & Design

There are a ton of options available for the Jeep Cherokee even at the lower level trims. The base-level Latitude comes with a 7-inch Uconnect 4 screen which includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with three USB ports, Bluetooth, and a rearview camera. The Latitude also comes with hill-start assist and start/stop, and safety features such as blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-path detection. Higher-level trims will bring you features such as leather upholstery, power driver and passenger seats, an upgraded audio system, and beautiful interior trim. At the highest level is the off-road Trailhawk which adds under-body skid plates, a more aggressive AWD system, upgraded suspension, and a ton of other features to ensure you are getting the best off-road experience.

2019 Subaru Forester Features & Design

The Subaru Forester also has some excellent, if similar, features. The base-level trim includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, electronic parking brake, automatic power door locks, and LED headlights. The Forester also throws in some terrific safety and security features such as adaptive cruise control and lane-departure warning and lane-keep assist. The top-level Touring provides you with Black or Saddle Brown perforated interior leather, and an in-vehicle Wi-Fi is available through your Subaru dealer. We admit that these are some fantastic options, but unfortunately, the Forester does not offer blind-spot monitoring, nor does it offer anything for off-roading since it is not an off-road vehcile.

After some thought, we have decided to give the victory to the 2019 Jeep Cherokee. There are just so many more options that are available, and the V6 engine is one of the best around. Also, the Jeep Cherokee can go off-road, and that’s just cool. Want to learn more about the Jeep Cherokee?
